$100 Mistakes

So, I have been told I need to update my blog more often.  (See Mich, I do listen - occasionally ;P).

The problem is, I now have full time job, to which I have to wear an utterly ugly, all black uniform 9-10 hours, five, sometimes six days a week.  Which does not leave a lot of room for creativity, inspiration or taking pictures of cute outfits to post.  I have to leave for work at 11:00AM and don't get back until 9:30 PM, so I basically live in my pajamas and my uniform - BLAHH!  I was putting clothes on every morning and then changing just before 11:00, but is it really worth it to pick out and outfit, wear it and possibly get it dirty for just four hours?  I need to try harder to get pictures over the weekends of what I'm wearing, unless you REALLY want to see my ugly Edo uniform.

All that to say, I have to come up with something else to update my blog with.  So I thought I would tell you an embarrassing, but really funny thing that happened to me last week.
I had been given a bag of clothes from a friend, and I was going through them to see what fit, what I like and what I could use.

I had on this nice, long denim skirt when Daddy called me to come and change the headlight on our Jeep because we needed it done before church the next morning and he and the boys were working on getting our little frog (a green quad) ready to go out and plow the roads so that we would be able to get out.  So I'm in the garage in this denim skirt and my 31/2 inch heels (they were the only shoes I could find!) changing the headlight and Neil asks if anyone has seen his wallet.  Well, it happens to be in a pile of tools just to my left, so I grab it and notice a $100 bill hanging out of it.  Who can resist the temptation to make him go frantic for about five minutes before returning it to him?  He's so funny when he's frantic.
Well, he didn't open his wallet, just thanked me and stuffed it in his pocket.  And I forgot about the $100 in my pocket.  I finished changing the headlight and went back to my room to finish trying on clothes.  I decided to get rid of that particular skirt because it was just an awkward length on me.  You know that length where it's not quite floor length, but not really ankle length either?  I have a friend at church who is a little shorter than me though, and I thought "this will fit Brooke".  I packed it and a couple other things up in a bag and took them to Brooke the next morning.
I was right.  I did fit Brooke.  Fit her so good she wore it to church the next Sunday.  Sunday evening I get a call.  Oops.

Only five of us (because that's all that fit in the car) drive in to evening service every week, so Brooke had gone up to Daddy and asked if he knew why there was a $100 bill in the pocket of the skirt - she'd found it that afternoon.  He called me and told me to call Brooke and explain.
Now I have to explain to her how I stole my little brother's hundred bucks and then I gave it away!  And it wasn't even Brooke who picked up the phone, it was her mother!  I couldn't decide whether I should be repentant or just laugh.  But when I'd explained it and she started laughing, I just let it out.  :D  It is pretty funny!  But also really bad.  I'm just thankful that she was honest and let me know.  Because really, if I found $100 in the pocket of a skirt I was given, I'd be tempted.
Thanks Brooke!  And enjoy the clothing, because I actually did mean to give that to you, just not the money.

In His grace,
Laurel
