Blogger glitches, babies and Pippolotta

So last night I wrote this long, insightful, well written (very word) post about the stars, about babies and about God.  It was actually good, and I don't usually write anything good or useful.  After I'd published it,  I noticed that I'd accidentally made a blank draft, so I selected it and hit delete.  But I forgot to un-select my just published post.  And now it is gone...forever.  And I know I can't re-write it.  :(

I will share from it, however, that I got to experience the most amazing thing yesterday!  It was my younger/bigger (when did that happen?) brother's birthday, so we got up extra early in order to have time to make and eat a birthday breakfast before leaving for church.  We had just finished eating when the phone rang and Janie (a friend) told me that she was on the way to the hospital to have her baby, so I better hurry if I wanted to be there in time.  (!!! :D)  I had never seen a live childbirth before, though I'm planning to be a midwife.  So this was super cool!  Her water was broken shortly after I got to the hospital and little Isaiah Sean was born three hours later.  It is so awesome the way God designed our bodies to produce these little bundles of life!

I was kind of scared when he first came out because he was very still, and very quiet, and VERY ashen!  I thought for a minute he might be dead, but then he screamed and assured everyone that he was quite alive!

And, since this is a fashion blog, a quick style for you.

I found this on the camera when I was taking some other pictures off of it.  This is one of my younger sisters, Kristin.  She just read through a bunch of Pippi Longstocking books, and I guess she like them!

The Power of Hats (Part 2)

Sorry for the weird face.  I'm no good at posing.  If anyone has any tips I'd be more than happy to hear them!

Anyways, this is my favorite pants outfit.  It's actually one of my favorite outfits.  Which is saying a lot, because I detest pants.  They're usually super uncomfortable.  But this pair is nice and soft, I guess that's why it's not uncomfortable, and I love the shirt, but I can't wear it with a skirt - it looks really weird.  

This is the only picture I got of it without a hat - whoops.  Me fixing my hair, because everyone wanted to see that! (*sarcasm*)  I like it, but it's pretty non-spectacular.  But when I add a beret...

...And figure skates.  The figure skates might have something to do with it.  I wore this and basically only this to my figure skating lessons.  It's so cute, and my skates match the pearl buttons on the shirt.  And best of all, it's totally modest!  

I like that the shirt is nice and long, for when I'm just standing there or driving to lessons or whatever.  And it's plenty full enough for spirals or lunges or anything really.  And yet I still have pants on underneath so it's modest for spins and jumps.  

Oh, and I like the way it swirls when I go fast or spin!  I got told I looked like a french painter in this once.

Recently I made this hat.  Not for anything in particular, just because I had all the right materials and then I was given the pattern for it, so I thought I'd make it up.  Once I had it done though, I figured I'd better come up with some way to wear it.  Originally I was trying to make an outfit that it would just fit into and I could wear in public.

It didn't work.  No matter what I did, the hat made it look like a costume.  Even though this outfit is reasonably modern and fashionable, the hat just costume-ized it.  So I decided to just go with that.  I added a thick belt and made sure to wear it with my knee boots.  And what do you get?

One of Robin's Merry Men!  Actually, I think it looks a lot like in the 1960's Robin Hood, where Marian dresses as a boy to get into the forest.

Well, that's what a hat can do to an outfit!
